About the role

Sitting within our Treasury team and reporting to the Head of Funding, this role combines legal expertise with commercial funding, structured finance and capital markets exposure. You'll play a hands-on role in securitisations, funding transactions and strategic funding initiatives that directly support Avanti's growth across New Zealand and Australia.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with a legal background who enjoys combining technical expertise with commercial thinking. You'll work alongside banks, investors, trustees, rating agencies, external counsel and internal stakeholders to support funding transactions that are critical to Avanti's ongoing success.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the optimisation of Avanti's funding facilities and cost of funds.
  • Playing a key role in securitisation programmes, warehouse facilities, term-outs and broader funding transactions.
  • Managing relationships with bank funders, debt investors and other funding partners across New Zealand and Australia.
  • Preparing reporting and communications for investors, trustees, funders and other external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating governance processes, including Board and committee papers.
  • Supporting facility renewals, extensions and funding negotiations.
  • Providing commercial and legal input into funding structures, transactions and strategic initiatives.
  • Analysing funding performance, pricing and utilisation to support decision-making.
  • Leading key transaction workstreams and coordinating external advisers including legal counsel, auditors, trustees and rating agencies.
  • Contributing to the evaluation and implementation of new funding structures, products and capital markets opportunities.
  • Supporting the wider Treasury team with legal and commercial advice.

What you'll bring

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in structured finance, securitisation, treasury, debt capital markets, corporate finance, banking or institutional funding.
  • A strong understanding of debt facilities, covenant frameworks, funding structures and capital markets transactions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical capability and commercial judgement.
  • The ability to balance legal, regulatory, risk and commercial considerations.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to prepare Board, investor and transaction materials.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
