Specialist Property Lender

The role

Due to continued growth across our property lending portfolio, we’re looking for additional Property Lenders to join our team. Reporting to the Property Lending Manager, you’ll play a critical role in assessing and approving property loan applications within your delegated lending authority (DLA), and referring those outside your authority for approval. You’ll help ensure Avanti’s lending standards are consistently upheld, turnaround times are met, and customers and partners receive an outstanding experience every time.

What you’ll do

• Assess property loan applications using a practical, balanced approach, ensuring alignment with Avanti’s lending policies and appetite
• Approve loans within your delegated lending authority and escalate applications outside your limits for authorisation
• Maintain and grow strong referral relationships with brokers, advisers, and key stakeholders
• Provide clear, accurate instructions to support loan documentation and settlement processes
• Achieve weekly and monthly lending targets while maintaining high service standards
• Complete lending decisions and associated administration within agreed timeframes
• Apply a strong risk and compliance lens to all decisions, ensuring adherence to CCCFA and other regulatory requirements
• Uphold Avanti’s risk framework by operating within the three lines of defence model

• Proven experience as a property lender or credit assessor within a bank, non‑bank lender, or finance company
• Strong understanding of property lending products, structures, and policy guidelines
• Experience dealing with specialist lending and more complex loan scenarios
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including CCCFA, with awareness of market trends
• Confidence exercising judgement and making lending decisions within delegated authority
• Strong relationship‑building skills with brokers, advisers, and external partners
• High level of numerical competency and analytical capability to assess risk and affordability
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and compliance
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work autonomously, and adapt in a fast‑paced environment
• Professional written and verbal communication skills, including handling challenging conversations
• A proactive, self‑motivated approach and commitment to ongoing development
