Senior Software Engineer

The role:

We’re looking for another member to join our growing team!

As a Senior Software Developer in our Software team in Christchurch, you’ll be the engineering force behind the tools and platforms that power how we work. You’ll architect and build .NET applications, shape the technical direction of the products you own, and be the person the business turns to when a problem needs to be analysed, designed, and delivered end to end.

This is not a role where you simply follow a process. You’ll make real decisions about architecture, tooling, and how your solutions fit into our delivery pipeline. You’ll work hands on every day while also influencing how the broader team thinks about quality, craft, and continuous improvement. You’ll join a close-knit team with a genuine startup feel, where ideas move quickly and everyone is encouraged to contribute.

What you’ll do:

• Design, build, and own robust .NET Core / .NET Framework web applications end to end
  
• Architect and implement RESTful APIs that power internal tools and external solutions
  
• Partner directly with business units to deliver tools that genuinely improve the way we work
  
• Build and integrate AI powered features and services to enhance platform intelligence
  
• Configure, administer, and operate Microsoft Azure applications, services, and resources
  
• Design, refine, and tune integrations between applications
  
• Lead the migration of legacy applications onto current Microsoft technologies
  
• Champion code quality through peer reviews, unit testing, automated testing, and CI/CD
  
• Package, deploy, and support releases into production
  
• Provide advanced support, resolving complex technical and application problems
  
• Mentor and coach teammates, setting the standard for high quality engineering
  
• Evaluate and adopt new tools and techniques to lift performance, automation, and scalability

   

What you’ll bring:

Essential skills

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
  
• High proficiency with .NET Core / .NET Framework, which is the core of the role
  
• Proven experience building and running applications in cloud environments (Azure preferred)
  
• Solid understanding of cloud architecture, scalability, and distributed systems
  
• Hands on experience with CI/CD tools and deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar)
  
• Solid SQL and query optimisation skills
  
• A natural mentor who’s keen to contribute to technical direction
  
• Self motivated, with a strong work ethic and a genuine commitment to ongoing learning

   

Highly regarded

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and environment automation
  
• Experience modernising or migrating legacy applications to current Microsoft technologies
  
• Experience in a quick moving product, SaaS, or automotive technology environment
