Senior Collections Officer (with Asset Recovery Experience)

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Collections & Asset Recovery Officer to join our high-performing team. Reporting to the Head of Collections & Operations, this role is pivotal in managing secured debt recovery strategies, working closely with mercantile agents, legal teams, and external stakeholders to maximise asset recovery outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end secured debt collection and asset recovery process, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Develop and execute recovery strategies, leveraging investigations and skip tracing to locate customers and assets.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with mercantile agents, legal representatives, and auction houses to optimise asset recovery.
  • Oversee a portfolio of high-value and complex delinquent loans, ensuring effective risk management and resolution.
  • Assess and mitigate credit risk exposure while implementing tailored recovery solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including NCCP consumer guidelines, debt collection laws, and privacy regulations.
  • Act as a key point of escalation, providing expertise and guidance within the Collections team to drive successful outcomes.
  • Maintain meticulous records, ensuring data integrity, reporting accuracy, and adherence to company policies.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience in debt collection, secured asset recovery, and financial risk management within Australia.
  • Expertise in mercantile agent management, distressed debt handling, and repossession processes.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to drive favourable recovery outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build long-term relationships.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to self-manage a portfolio of complex cases.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
