Senior Business Analyst

Avanti Finance is growing – fast

We’re on a mission to become the best specialist lending company in New Zealand and Australia, and we’re looking for ambitious, driven people to help get us there.

We’ve got bold goals and a clear vision for the future. That means exciting opportunities for those ready to champion new ideas, challenge the status quo, and grow alongside us.

If you’re hungry to make an impact, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love turning ideas into action – you’ll feel right at home here.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Technical Delivery, you’ll sit at the heart of complex, high‑impact initiatives - connecting people, ideas, and systems to turn business needs into outcomes that matter.

You’ll work cross‑functionally across the business, building a deep understanding of our products, platforms, and processes, and translating ambiguity into clear, actionable requirements that enable fast, high‑quality delivery. This is a hands‑on Senior BA role where you’ll influence, challenge, and help shape how we deliver.

What you’ll do

  • Rapidly build a clear, end‑to‑end view of each initiative - scope, requirements, success measures, risks, and dependencies.
  • Lead discovery sessions with SMEs to clarify problem statements, explore options, and recommend pragmatic, value‑driven solutions.
  • Own the requirements lifecycle from start to finish - eliciting, documenting, prioritising, and managing change while aligning stakeholders.
  • Write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria to support iterative, agile delivery.
  • Act as the bridge between business and technology - translating in both directions, challenging assumptions, and driving clarity.
  • Flex across a shared delivery pool, contributing to strategic delivery, business transformation, and project initiatives.
  • Keep the end‑user experience front of mind, advocating for continuous, incremental improvement.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Senior Business Analyst working in agile environments within NZ financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of finance and IT applications - such as lending origination and management platforms, securitisation, assessment, and collections - plus an understanding of the NZ legislative landscape.
  • Sharp critical thinking and structured problem‑solving skills, with the confidence to influence and align senior, cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Proven facilitation skills - comfortable running workshops, presenting recommendations, and driving decisions.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to operate at pace in a dynamic, evolving environment.
