Recoveries Officer

The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced experienced Recoveries Officer to join our Collections team in Sydney. This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the position and advance your career within a dynamic and supportive environment. Reporting to the Head of Customer Interactions, you will be responsible for managing legal recoveries, collaborating with external legal partners, and evaluating the feasibility of legal actions. Your expertise in negotiation will be crucial in developing workable solutions for customers while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Do the doing
- Legal Activity & Loss Recovery: Undertake legal actions and manage loss recovery processes in collaboration with external legal partners.
- Feasibility Evaluation: Assess the viability of legal proceedings and coordinate with legal counsel as necessary.
- Portfolio Management: Independently manage a portfolio of delinquent secured loans, ensuring efficient recoveries while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understand and adhere to all regulatory requirements of debt collections, including NCCP consumer guidelines, and operate in accordance with consumer privacy laws and company procedures.
- Negotiation & Risk Assessment: Utilize strong negotiation skills to implement recovery solutions and evaluate credit risk and exposure.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and compliant records, ensuring file integrity and attention to detail.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively within the Collections team to optimize recovery strategies.
- Adaptability: Operate proactively in a fast-paced and evolving environment, demonstrating the ability to multitask and manage workloads under pressure.
About You:
- Proven experience in legal recoveries within Australia, with exposure to secured lending and collections.
- Solid understanding of debt recovery processes and relevant legislation, including ACCC debt collection guidelines and NCC.
- Ability to manage a portfolio independently with a proactive approach.
- Strong negotiation, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- High level of accuracy in record-keeping and compliance.
- Competence in computing and numerical literacy.
- Collaborative mindset with the capability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Full Australian working rights are essential.
