The role
Reporting to the Head of Technical Delivery, the Project Delivery Lead plays a critical role at the intersection of strategy and execution. This is a senior delivery role responsible for leading the successful delivery of prioritised initiatives and projects across the business.
Working closely with Technology and cross‑functional stakeholders, you’ll ensure initiatives are well scoped, well governed, and delivered at pace - with customer outcomes, risk, and compliance front of mind.
You’ll also oversee the delivery of work completed by Business Analysts within the Strategic Delivery shared resource pool and/or assigned project teams, providing guidance, structure, and support to enable strong outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of prioritised initiatives and projects, from discovery through to execution.
- Partner closely with the Head of Technical Delivery, Technology, and business stakeholders to ensure aligned, timely delivery.
- Ensure initiatives are well scoped, structured, governed, and communicated with clear ownership, risks, and dependencies.
- Oversee and support Business Analysts across assigned initiatives and shared delivery resources.
- Manage delivery using internal and external resources, balancing pace, quality, and budget.
- Apply strong financial services knowledge to enable informed decision‑making and proactive planning.
- Embed customer outcomes, risk, and compliance into everything you deliver.
- Contribute positively to Avanti’s people‑first, values‑led culture.
What you’ll bring
- 7+ years’ experience in project delivery within agile environments, ideally in NZ or AU financial services.
- Hands‑on experience delivering end‑to‑end initiatives, with strong capability across analysis and delivery.
- Strong preference for experience in financial platform transformation, optimisation, or migration projects.
- Proven ability to manage complex timelines, milestones, risks, and resources while engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
- Exposure to lending origination platforms, credit assessment processes, and NZ regulatory requirements (highly regarded).
- Strategic thinking capability, balanced with flexibility as scopes and priorities evolve.
- Confidence influencing and aligning stakeholders across business and technology teams.
- Strong facilitation skills - comfortable leading discovery sessions, workshops, and planning forums.
- Ability to juggle multiple initiatives in fast‑paced, dynamic environments.
- Self‑driven, growth‑oriented, and keen to bring fresh thinking to delivery and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills - clear, concise, and adaptable across written, verbal, and leadership audiences.
