People & Culture Partner - Australia

Avanti Finance is growing – fast

We’re on a mission to become the best specialist lending company in New Zealand and Australia, and we’re looking for ambitious, driven people to help get us there.

We’ve got bold goals and a clear vision for the future. That means exciting opportunities for those ready to champion new ideas, challenge the status quo, and grow alongside us.

If you’re hungry to make an impact, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love turning ideas into action – you’ll feel right at home here.

At Avanti, we're building a modern People & Culture function focused on leadership capability, employee experience, recruitment excellence, workforce planning and creating high-performing teams across New Zealand and Australia. We're looking for an experienced HR Generalist, Senior P&C Advisor or HR Business Partner to help drive that journey in Australia.

The opportunity

This is not your traditional HR role. As our People & Culture Partner - Australia, you'll be the key P&C representative on the ground in Sydney, partnering closely with leaders to solve business challenges, build capability, support change, strengthen culture and navigate complex people matters. You'll work as part of a trans-Tasman P&C team while having the autonomy to make a genuine impact locally.

What you'll be doing

  • Partnering with leaders both remote and in Sydney, to build high-performing teams.
  • Coaching managers through performance, engagement and employee relations matters.
  • Supporting organisational change and culture initiatives.
  • Driving employee engagement and leadership growth.
  • Providing local oversight of recruitment activity across Australia.
  • Helping embed future-focused people practices, processes and ways of working.

About you

Your CV will show

  • 5+ years HR or People & Culture experience.
  • Strong Australian employment relations knowledge.
  • Experience partnering with leaders and influencing decisions.
  • Confidence managing complex people situations.
  • Experience supporting organisational change and culture initiatives.
  • The ability to work independently, build relationships quickly and balance people outcomes with commercial outcomes.

  • Financial services or other regulated industry experience would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

Why Avanti?

We're on a journey to create the best employee experience in our industry. You'll join a highly engaged People & Culture team that's moving beyond traditional HR and building genuine business partnering capability, manager excellence and a strong performance culture. This is an opportunity to shape what good looks like and be a key driver in our Australian business, with a team that has your back across the Tasman.

If you're looking for a role where you can influence leaders, drive change, build culture and make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.

What's in it for me?

At Avanti Finance, you'll be supported to grow your career, develop new skills and take ownership of your professional development.

You'll have the chance to give back to the community through initiatives such as Duffy Books in Homes and our annual volunteer day programme.

Depending on the role and team, flexible working arrangements may be available to support your work-life balance.

You'll have access to a range of benefits, which include enhanced KiwiSaver employer contributions (on top of your base salary), enhanced parental and secondary carer benefits, free access to a gym, pilates studio, sauna and state-of-the-art end of trip facilities, and fresh fruit in the office.

If you're looking for a place where you can realise your potential, feel supported and make a meaningful contribution, we'd love to hear from you.
