People & Culture Advisor

Avanti Finance is growing – fast

We’re on a mission to become the best specialist lending company in New Zealand and Australia, and we’re looking for ambitious, driven people to help get us there.

We’ve got bold goals and a clear vision for the future. That means exciting opportunities for those ready to champion new ideas, challenge the status quo, and grow alongside us.

If you’re hungry to make an impact, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love turning ideas into action – you’ll feel right at home here.

The role

The People & Culture Advisor plays an exciting role in shaping the people experience here at Avanti. Reporting to the General Manager - People & Culture, and working closely with all our people across New Zealand and Australia, this role provides hands-on exposure to the full employee lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on recruitment, people operations, and developing your existing advisory capability.

Bringing a strong generalist foundation, you'll learn by doing and being involved in all employment aspects. You will apply sound judgement, grow your confidence in people advisory work, as you curiously build on your growing understanding of employment frameworks alongside our evolving business. Did I mention exciting? It really is!

With over 300 staff across 4 offices, we can promise you'll be able to get stuck in as you:

  • Partner with the People & Culture team, and business leaders, to deliver a values‑led, end‑to‑end recruitment experience and contribute to continuous improvement of hiring practices.
  • Support and provide trusted, day‑to‑day people advice on employee queries, performance, and conduct matters, escalating where appropriate.
  • Support people initiatives across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee changes, and transitions.
  • Enable effective use of people systems, data, and insights to support sound decision‑making by leaders and employees.
  • Contribute to people reporting, governance, risk, and compliance requirements across the Group.
  • Participate in P&C projects, learning, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen how we partner with the business.

Are you our future Advisor? We'd love to talk to you if you have:

  • Minimum 2 years working experience in an HR or People role and can demonstrate your contribution to employment processes and decision making while exercising professionalism, discretion, and human-values to do the right thing.
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law foundations in NZ and Australia.
  • A love of systems, data, and eagle eye detail capability.
  • Exceptional communication skills and an ability to build trust across all levels.

What's in it for me?

Within the Avanti Finance Group, you can look forward to flexible and hybrid working as we offer up to two days working from home following your initial training period. We give back to our communities through our support of Duffy Books, and by offering an Annual Volunteer Day for you to use for a purpose that's close to your heart. We believe in celebrating diversity, and we also celebrate talent and development by working with you through an established capability framework that puts you in the driving seat of your development while achieving business goals. You won't find a gender pay gap here, as we have great remuneration packages but as we all know there's more to an awesome job than the money. If you are happy and fulfilling your potential, while feeling supported, valued and empowered, then that’s a win for us! Fresh fruit, My Everyday Wellbeing Memberships, and increased Kiwisaver match is there for you to feel good from the inside out.
