Head of Compliance

Avanti Finance Group is a privately owned specialist lender operating across New Zealand and Australia. We are on a growth mission to lead our industry through innovation, strong governance and exceptional financial services.

We are seeking a seasoned Head of Compliance to provide authoritative leadership across the Avanti Group. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this Auckland based role is a key member of the Risk and Operations leadership team, with direct influence at executive, committee and Board level.

This role will suit a senior compliance professional who combines sound regulatory judgement with commercial acumen, and who is comfortable operating as a trusted adviser in a complex financial services environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the Group compliance framework
  • Ensure compliance with NZ and Australian legislation, including consumer credit, FMCA, AML CFT, Health and Safety, and Privacy
  • Oversee all AML CFT obligations, including risk assessments, monitoring and FIU reporting
  • Manage breaches, incidents and regulatory change
  • Lead regulatory engagement, audits and inspections
  • Deliver compliance training and promote strong risk and compliance culture

About you

  • Minimum 7 years experience in compliance or regulatory risk within financial services
  • Proven experience operating at senior or lead level
  • Strong knowledge of NZ and Australian regulatory environments
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical guidance
  • Self motivated, organised and confident working autonomously
