Credit Resolution Specialist

Avanti Finance is growing – fast

We’re on a mission to become the best specialist lending company in New Zealand and Australia, and we’re looking for ambitious, driven people to help get us there.

We’ve got bold goals and a clear vision for the future. That means exciting opportunities for those ready to champion new ideas, challenge the status quo, and grow alongside us.

If you’re hungry to make an impact, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love turning ideas into action – you’ll feel right at home here.

The role

Reporting to the Customer Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of 90+ day arrears and crystallised debt accounts, managing the recovery process from end to end.

This team sits at the point where standard collections activity has been exhausted. You'll be dealing with non-performing loans, shortfall balances following asset sales, insolvencies, liquidations, bankruptcies, deceased estates and legal recovery matters. You'll also work closely with external recovery partners and help shape the future direction of the function as processes continue to evolve.

This is a busy, varied and highly impactful role that will suit someone who enjoys challenging, complex work and taking ownership of outcomes.

You'll be joining a supportive team where no two days are the same, working on some of the most complex accounts in the business. You'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference for customers while delivering meaningful recovery outcomes for the organisation.

What you'll do

  • Manage a portfolio of non-performing loan accounts, typically 90+ days in arrears.
  • Develop and execute recovery strategies, including enforcement action and legal escalation where appropriate.
  • Manage crystallised debt accounts and negotiate payment arrangements.
  • Work with customers, solicitors, courts, liquidators, insolvency practitioners and enforcement agents.
  • Manage accounts involving bankruptcy, liquidation, insolvency and deceased estates.
  • Conduct skip tracing activities to locate customers, assets and employment details.
  • Assess recoverability and recommend appropriate next steps, including legal action or write off decisions.
  • Prepare and manage legal documentation and recovery records.
  • Monitor and manage shortfall balances following the sale or repossession of assets.
  • Contribute ideas and expertise to help improve and refine recovery processes.

What we're looking for

We're keen to speak with people who have done this type of work before and can confidently step into a complex recoveries environment.

You'll likely bring:

  • Experience in recoveries, debt collection, legal collections, enforcement or a similar specialist role.
  • Previous experience managing 90+ day arrears, non-performing loans or crystallised debt.
  • Exposure to legal recovery processes, insolvency, bankruptcy, liquidation or asset recovery.
  • Experience working within a debt collection agency, recoveries team or specialist collections environment would be highly regarded.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • The ability to handle difficult and sensitive conversations professionally.
  • Excellent judgement, resilience and the ability to work autonomously.
  • A customer-first mindset and a genuine desire to help customers find workable solutions, even in challenging circumstances.

What's in it for me?

At Avanti Finance, you'll be supported to grow your career, develop new skills and take ownership of your professional development.

You'll have the chance to give back to the community through initiatives such as Duffy Books in Homes and our annual volunteer day programme.

Depending on the role and team, flexible working arrangements may be available to support your work-life balance.

You'll have access to a range of benefits, which include enhanced KiwiSaver employer contributions (on top of your base salary), enhanced parental and secondary carer benefits, free access to a gym, pilates studio, sauna and state-of-the-art end of trip facilities, and fresh fruit in the office.

If you're looking for a place where you can realise your potential, feel supported and make a meaningful contribution, we'd love to hear from you.
