Credit Analyst

Avanti Finance is growing – fast

We’re on a mission to become the best specialist lending company in New Zealand and Australia, and we’re looking for ambitious, driven people to help get us there.

We’ve got bold goals and a clear vision for the future. That means exciting opportunities for those ready to champion new ideas, challenge the status quo, and grow alongside us.

If you’re hungry to make an impact, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love turning ideas into action – you’ll feel right at home here.

The Role

Reporting to the Credit Team Leader, this role plays a critical part in supporting the organisation’s risk management and customer outcomes. As a Credit Analyst, you will be responsible for assessing customer creditworthiness and risk in line with BFS and Avanti Finance Group credit policies and guidelines.

You’ll work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment where accuracy, sound judgement, and timely communication are essential. This role suits someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working as part of a one‑team approach, and contributing to continuous improvement across credit processes and systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Analysing and recommending incoming credit applications in line with BFS policies, procedures, and delegated lending authority (DLA).
  • Approving and signing off applications within approved delegation limits, and escalating exceptions or higher‑risk matters to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensuring service level agreements are met, with a strong focus on turnaround times and responsive communication.
  • Liaising with introducers to respond to application‑related enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supporting the Credit Manager with the development, enhancement, and continuous improvement of credit systems and processes.
  • Assisting and supporting other internal teams to ensure smooth end‑to‑end customer outcomes.
  • Contributing to a collaborative, high‑performing team environment where shared goals and collective success are prioritised

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience assessing and recommending credit applications within banking, asset finance, or financial services.
  • Solid understanding of credit risk, customer creditworthiness, and delegated lending authority.
  • Ability to manage high application volumes while meeting SLAs and turnaround times.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with confidence in credit decision‑making.
  • Clear, professional communication skills when working with introducers and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive, team‑focused approach with strong organisation skills in a fast‑paced environment.
