Cloud Systems Engineer

Avanti Finance is growing – fast

We’re on a mission to become the best specialist lending company in New Zealand and Australia, and we’re looking for ambitious, driven people to help get us there.

We’ve got bold goals and a clear vision for the future. That means exciting opportunities for those ready to champion new ideas, challenge the status quo, and grow alongside us.

If you’re hungry to make an impact, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love turning ideas into action – you’ll feel right at home here.

This is a newly created role, reporting to the Head of Infrastructure and Security, designed to keep pace with our growth and ongoing digital transformation. As a Cloud Systems Engineer, you’ll be hands-on with the tech that keeps our business moving - managing, optimising, and evolving our cloud and network infrastructure to deliver performance, security, and reliability.

You’ll play a key role in supporting cloud migrations, fine-tuning Azure services, and implementing automation to make things smarter and more efficient.

As a Cloud System Engineer, you can expect to:

  • Keeping our cloud and network environments running smoothly – monitoring, troubleshooting, backing up, and recovering when needed.
  • Helping plan and deliver migrations to Microsoft Azure and managing hybrid environments to keep everything connected.
  • Configuring and maintaining Azure services (VMs, networking, storage, backups) to support core business applications.
  • Supporting SD-WAN across multiple sites and keeping it optimised.
  • Managing identity, access, and security policies in Azure to make sure we stay compliant and resilient.
  • Staying ahead of issues – monitoring performance, applying patches, and proactively resolving problems.
  • Looking for ways to make our infrastructure run faster, smarter, and more cost-effectively.
  • Sharing knowledge, documenting processes, and collaborating with IT teams, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Getting involved in continuous improvement and other projects that come your way.

What we look for in the successful candidate:

  • Solid experience in IT infrastructure – servers, networking, and cloud environments.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud operations.
  • Strong knowledge of SD-WAN and enterprise networking.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills that keep things moving.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (Azure AD, MFA, Conditional Access).
  • Scripting/automation chops (PowerShell, orchestration tools).
  • Clear communicator with strong documentation and collaboration skills.
  • A degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Bonus points for industry certifications (Azure Administrator, Solutions Architect, Cisco, Fortinet, VMware SD-WAN, ITIL v4).

What's in it for me?

We believe in celebrating diversity, and we also celebrate talent and development by working with you through an established capability framework that puts you in the driving seat of your development while achieving business goals. You won't find a gender pay gap here, as we have great remuneration packages but as we all know there's more to an awesome job than the money. If you are happy and fulfilling your potential, while feeling supported, valued and empowered, then that’s a win for us! Fresh fruit, Healthy Food Guide Memberships, and increased Kiwisaver match is there for you to feel good from the inside out.
