Business Transformation Lead

Avanti Finance is growing – fast

We’re on a mission to become the best specialist lending company in New Zealand and Australia, and we’re looking for ambitious, driven people to help get us there.

We’ve got bold goals and a clear vision for the future. That means exciting opportunities for those ready to champion new ideas, challenge the status quo, and grow alongside us.

If you’re hungry to make an impact, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love turning ideas into action – you’ll feel right at home here.

About the role

Avanti is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation, and we’re looking for a Business Transformation Lead to help us move faster, work smarter, and continuously improve how we deliver for our customers. This is a newly created role, reporting to the General Manager - Strategic Delivery, with genuine influence for someone who enjoys being close to the work and turning insight into action.

You’ll focus on rapid‑cycle, high‑value operational improvements - observing frontline processes, identifying pain points, analysing data, and delivering practical changes that make an immediate difference, from faster decisions to improved customer experiences. This is a hands‑on role, working directly with teams across Lending Assessment, Customer Operations, and Collections in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. You’ll be based in our new, purpose‑built office, designed to support modern ways of working and collaboration.

What you’ll be doing

  • Establishing an agile, right‑sized delivery cadence that supports rapid‑cycle improvement
  • Building trusted relationships across the business to drive engagement, momentum, and buy‑in
  • Leading and contributing to a fortnightly planning cycle, identifying and prioritising micro‑improvement opportunities
  • Observing frontline processes, mapping workflows, and uncovering inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and friction points
  • Building and managing a clear backlog of operational improvements, with transparent communication on what’s being delivered
  • Working closely with Change Leads, Process Specialists, and delivery teams to group and sequence initiatives effectively
  • Owning and coordinating delivery of improvements - from task execution through to landing change with end users
  • Creating feedback loops to confirm benefits realisation and iterating based on real‑world usage
  • Identifying opportunities for automation, digitisation, or tooling improvements that remove manual work
  • Championing agile ways of working, continuous improvement, and a mindset of learning by doing
  • Ensuring all improvements align with Avanti’s compliance, risk, regulatory, and customer obligations

What you’ll bring

  • 10+ years’ experience in business transformation, operational optimisation, or process improvement, ideally within NZ financial services
  • Hands‑on experience working with teams such as Lending Assessment, Customer Operations, Collections, Finance, or similar
  • Strong experience in fast‑paced, rapid‑delivery environments
  • Practical capability in process mapping, workflow optimisation, and continuous improvement approaches
  • Confidence facilitating discovery sessions, workshops, and discussions at all levels of the organisation
  • A strong analytical mindset - able to interpret data and connect insights to real operational outcomes
  • The ability to balance quick wins today with sustainable improvement over time
  • Clear, confident communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and bring people along
  • Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple improvement initiatives simultaneously
  • Naturally curious - keen to explore systems, data, and processes to understand how things really work
